# Co-pilot: Candidate suggestions

We're currently rolling out improvements to the job creation setup. As the update is being introduced gradually, your experience may differ from what's described in this article.

A Company Admin user needs to activate Co-pilot in the [Add-on feature center](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/3825410-add-on-features) to get started.

Once activated, the *Candidate suggestions* feature can be toggled on/off under **Settings → Recruitment → Co-pilot → Candidate insights**.

With this feature, Co-pilot helps you identify candidates in your existing database who may be a good match for an open job. Its suggestions are available in the [Browse candidates view](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/118259-add-candidates-to-your-account#h_810f1265e4), bringing AI-powered suggestions and manual candidate search together in one place.

Browse suggested candidates, understand why they were recommended, compare them against the job's screening criteria, and add promising candidates to the job. A human review is always expected to ensure the best fit for the role.

# Enable / Disable suggestions for a job

After activation, you will see a toggle available where you can enable/disable candidate suggestions when [configuring the hiring process](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/15341358-set-up-the-recruitment-process) for a job. Once enabled, the system will start searching for candidates that match the identified requirements for the current job.

# Browse suggested candidates

When Co-pilot has suggestions for a job, you'll find a **Suggested candidates** section at the top of the job's Inbox.

Please note! All users with access to a job where *Candidate suggestions* are activated will be able to open and manage all suggested candidates.

This means that Co-pilot might suggest candidates that a member of the hiring team normally would not have access to see or manage. The user will only have access to candidate-related information; meanwhile, information added to the job context will not be visible. Click the section to open the **Browse candidates** view, where the candidates are already filtered to show Co-pilot's suggestions for that job. Candidates suggested by Co-pilot are marked with a *Suggested* badge, making them easy to identify when browsing candidates.

Hover over the **Suggested** badge to see why Co-pilot considers them a potential match for the job. This explanation is also available when you open the candidate's profile at the top.

## Compare candidates against screening criteria

If the Co-pilot feature [Candidate screening](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/10209597-co-pilot-candidate-screening) is enabled for the job, you can see how a suggested candidate matches the job's Inbox screening criteria on the candidate card. It will show which criteria are met, unmet, or unknown, along with explanations to help you understand the assessment.

# Add suggested candidates

If you find a candidate you'd like to move forward with, you can add them to the job directly from the **Browse candidates** view.

The option **+ Add to job** will appear when hovering over a candidate and in the bulk select menu. The candidates will then be added to the job's Inbox.

# Dismiss suggested candidates

If a candidate isn't a good match for the job, you can dismiss their suggestion in the **Browse candidates** view.

The *Dismiss suggestion* option will appear when hovering over a candidate and in the menu when using the bulk select option.

When dismissing a candidate, select a predefined reason or provide your own explanation as feedback to help improve future suggestions from Co-pilot.

Dismissing a suggestion removes it from the suggestions for that job. The candidate remains in your database and isn't deleted.

# How Co-pilot finds candidates

Co-pilot extracts the required skills from the job description and searches your existing candidate database for potential matches. Candidates are reviewed in two stages to determine whether they should be suggested for the job.

**Stage 1**

An initial pool of candidates is selected based on an overview analysis of:

- Resumes

- Meeting summaries

- Answers

- Reviews

- Job match scores

**Stage 2**

The candidates selected in the first stage are analyzed in more detail using the same information, as well as:

- Job applications

- Messages

- Comments

- Locations from job applications

- Inbox screening criteria, if enabled

## Excluded candidates

Some candidates are excluded from the search, including:

- [Internal candidates](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/1575132-manage-internal-recruitment)

- Hired candidates

- Candidates already active in another job process (unless they have had no activity in the past 2 months)

- Candidates who don't match the locations added in the job (for non-fully remote jobs)

- Candidates who have had no activity in the past year

Do you [collect separate permissions for future jobs](https://support.teamtailor.com/en/articles/3527032-collect-permissions#h_30321333d6)?

If yes, **candidates who have opted in to future jobs permission, as well as candidates who haven't answered the request yet**, will be taken into account and potentially suggested by Co-pilot. Candidates who have declined the request won't be included.

If no, **all candidates** will be taken into account and potentially suggested by Co-pilot, regardless of whether they've given separate permission for future jobs.
