A Company Admin user needs to activate Co-pilot in the Add-on feature center to get started.
Once activated, the Candidate screening feature can be toggled on/off under Settings → Recruitment → Co-pilot → Candidate insights.
This feature helps streamline your recruitment process by evaluating candidates against the criteria you set. This allows you to make informed decisions faster and focus on the top applications.
Set up screening criteria
Go to the job in question, click the three dots on the Inbox stage, and select Screening criteria.
Only user roles with editing rights to the job can set this up. Read more about the user role permissions here.
Start by either clicking + Add criteria to create your own criteria or asking Co-pilot by choosing Suggest criteria.
Add your own criteria
If you want to create custom criteria, select + Add criteria.
Title: Choose a short, clear name that describes what the criterion is about. The title does not affect how it is evaluated.
Prompt: The prompt is the most important part of the criterion. It’s what the Co-pilot uses to evaluate responses, so make sure it clearly describes what should be assessed.
Here are some examples of criteria:
Title: Computer Science education
Prompt: Holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
Title: Based in San Francisco
Prompt: Resides in San Francisco or is willing to relocate.
Title: Driver's license
Prompt: Holds a valid driver's license.
Ask Co-pilot to suggest criteria
If you select Suggest criteria, Co-pilot analyzes the job description and suggests relevant criteria for you to use or adjust.
Verify criteria
After adding all criteria, you’ll need to verify them before saving. This helps ensure your prompts are set up correctly and will work as intended.
A message will appear when a prompt may need further clarification. For example, if a prompt simply says “5 years experience”, the system will show a message suggesting you be more specific. You don’t have to act on every warning since there may be valid cases for keeping your prompt as is. However, in most cases, we recommend reviewing the prompt.
Once you’re finished, click Save and enable, and Co-pilot will begin evaluating all candidates in the Inbox based on your criteria.
View criteria evaluations
Co-pilot evaluates the candidates against your set criteria based on the following data:
Resume text (supported file formats: "docx", "pptx", "pdf", "pages", "txt", "rtf")
Cover letter
Answers to the job application questions (supported question types: Range, Boolean, Choice, Text, Number, Date)
Comments connected to the job
Candidate custom fields (private custom fields are excluded)
When any of these data points are updated on the candidate, the screening will run again in the background.
Co-pilot only sets "✓" or "✕" when there is sufficient information to support the evaluation. When information is missing or ambiguous, a "–" icon will be displayed along with the reasoning so you can make the final assessment.
Job process
Once the criteria have been added, the evaluation will appear on the candidate card preview in the Inbox stage. The evaluations will also be visible in the other stages by enabling the Expanded view.
A quick overview of the criteria marked with "✓" or "✕" is shown here. To view the full breakdown, including any unknown criteria, open the candidate card.
Sort based on criteria
You can sort candidates in the Inbox so that those who meet the most criteria appear at the top, highlighting your top candidates.
To do this, click the three dots in the Inbox stage and go to Sort → Screening criteria.
Help us improve Co-pilot
Share your feedback on the help you received from Co-pilot directly in the platform. Your input will help us make your experience even better!
Compare candidates
If you’re using the Compare candidates feature, the screening criteria and evaluations will be included in the data table, so you can compare candidates side by side.
Candidate card
On the candidate card, you’ll find a Screening criteria section where you can view Co-pilot’s evaluation and manually override the result if needed.
Each criterion displays the evaluation status, Co-pilot’s reasoning, and a Change evaluation dropdown for any manual adjustments that may be needed. The dropdown includes the following three options:
Meets criteria
Doesn’t meet criteria
Unknown / Insufficient data
