A candidate can be assigned to a department in several ways. Their assigned department determines the job recommendation emails they receive and their visibility to users with access to that specific department.
The candidate connects to a department
When a candidate connects with a company, they select the department that aligns most with their interests. They can also pick a role associated to the selected department.
The candidate can change this at any time they wish.
This determines which department candidates are assigned to in Teamtailor and what job subscription emails they receive.
How to manually assign a candidate to a department
If a candidate should be moved to a department, you can do that with a few clicks on their candidate card.
In the bottom menu, click More → Move candidate.
From here you can pick a department and a role that the candidate should be moved to.
Candidate applies/is sourced to a job
If a candidate applies, or gets sourced to a job, they will automatically be moved to the department that was picked for that job.
The first job a candidate applies for or gets sourced to will stay unless they Connect or are manually moved.
Rules & Exceptions
A candidate’s chosen department and role in Connect will always override the company settings. This means they won’t be moved to another department, even if they apply for a job in a different one or you try to assign them manually. This ensures that the candidate’s preferences are followed and helps prevent recruiters from sourcing them for roles they aren’t interested in.
If a candidate is not connected, the department you manually assign them will stay unless they connect to another department or you manually change it again.
Priority of settings:
Connect settings (Overrides everything else)
Manually assigned department (Overrides job applications)
Job application/sourcing (Lowest priority)
