What is SEO?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In simple terms, it means the process of improving your job ads to increase their visibility for relevant searches. The better visibility your job ads have in search results, the more likely you are to garner attention and attract prospective and existing candidates to your job ads.

Content strategy

Start by ensuring you have a content strategy for your job ad. This means that you should use content relevant to your target group of candidates for the specific job and for your company.

Relevant keywords

Use relevant keywords in the job title, the headings, the job description, and the pitch. To identify your keywords, think about what words the candidates would use when searching for similar jobs, or ask employees with similar profiles already working at your company.

Formatting ( ¶ )

When writing the job description use our formatting options to ensure the search engines know what information should be considered as important. For eg. Content added as a Heading is considered more important than the content of Normal text and Heading 2 is more important than Heading 4.

Please note that the Job ad title added to the job is your Heading 1.

Examples

  • Instead of using bold with B, go ahead and use one of the formats available in the formatting list ¶).

  • When it comes to adding keywords in Headings:

    • Instead of "We offer you:", you could mention both the 'job title' and your 'company name'.

      • Example: "As a [Role] at [Company Name], we offer you A and B"

    • "Role Responsibilities/Requirements" could become:

      • Example: "As a [Role] at [Company Name], you will be responsible for A and B"

    • As an alternative to "Skills required:" you could say:

      • Example: "Skills such as A and B are highly desirable at [Company Name], but the following are required:"

Pitch

To catch the attention of your candidates, make sure to write a unique Pitch for the job. Besides telling your candidates why they should apply for the job, the pitch is also used as a Meta-description. Make sure again to include relevant keywords, a minimum the job title, and the company name.
