People visit your career site for different reasons. Some are actively searching for a new job, while others are simply curious about your company. But what happens to candidates who don’t find their dream job, or the ones who are interested in your company but aren’t quite ready to apply yet?
Connect allows candidates to express interest in your company and gives them the chance to learn more about you. They can also subscribe to receive notifications about future job openings that match their interests and preferences. The next time you post a job, it might be the perfect opportunity—and the right timing—for them to apply.
Our feature helps you nurture relationships with potential candidates, even when they’re not actively applying. It’s an effective way to engage in a candidate-driven market and build lasting connections. Built with both candidates and your company in mind, it creates value for everyone involved.
Set up Connect
To ensure a good candidate experience and qualitative connections, there are a couple of things that you should set up in your account. Follow our guide on how to set up Connect here.
How to Connect
Candidates can connect to your company in various ways. When they visit your career page, the Connect button is always located next to your Job openings button. Additionally, the option to connect appears after a candidate has applied for a job.
When candidates click on Connect, they’re directed to a page where they select the departments and roles they’re interested in.
They create a candidate profile using Facebook, LinkedIn, or email and answer the questions you've set up, choosing which ones to respond to and what information to share. Candidates can update their selected roles, departments, and job subscription preferences anytime.
After connecting, candidates receive an automatic email thanking them for their interest. You can find this email under Settings → Templates → Messages, labeled as the default template Connect. Customize it to match your company’s tone, but keep it general, as it will be sent to all candidates regardless of their selected department or role.
Connect dashboard
Once connected, the candidate has access to their very own Connect dashboard. Here, they can access the content and information set up in your Connect overview. This is also where they can edit their profile and see their job applications. More on this here.
Job subscription emails
Candidates will receive an email when you post a job ad that matches their settings for the job tip subscription emails. With the option to subscribe to exactly the department/s and role/s you want, the candidate can completely customize when to get emails for new job listings.
The default setting is that the candidate gets job tip emails related to the department/role they've connected with.
Example 1: Candidate A
Candidate A connects with your Product department and the role Front End Developer. Then the candidate chose the location Stockholm in their Connect profile settings.
The candidate doesn't alter the job subscription settings and will therefore receive an email when you publish a job within the department Product Development with the role Front End developer, and location Stockholm. |
Example 2: Candidate B
| Candidate B connects with your Customer Support department and the role Technical Support Agent. No location is selected by the candidate in their Connect profile settings.
The candidate doesn't change the job subscription settings and will therefore receive an email when you publish a job within the Customer Support department with the role Technical Support Agent, regardless of which location is selected in the job. |
Example 3: Candidate C
Candidate C connects with your Sales department. Then the candidate chose the location London in their Connect profile settings.
Then the candidate updates their job subscription options in their Connect profile settings and will get job tip emails according to those settings.
This now means that the candidate will receive an email when you publish a job within the Customer Success and Sales department. Since the candidate chose London as their preferred location, only jobs posted in there will be sent to make sure they are relevant to the candidate. |
