Cookies are small files stored on a user’s device that help websites remember information and track how the site is used.
In many parts of the world, you need to let visitors know that cookies are being used and get their consent before setting any non-essential cookies. This means clearly explaining how cookies and other tracking technologies are used before they are activated.
Some cookies that are essential for a website to function don’t require consent. However, visitors should always be able to change or withdraw their consent at any time, and it should be just as easy to do as it was to give it in the first place.
Cookie features
As a data controller, you’re responsible for meeting cookie and privacy requirements on your career site. To support you, we provide a default cookie policy, along with a consent alert to help you collect and manage visitor consent.
Consent alert
When visitors arrive on your site, they’re shown a banner where they can:
Accept all cookies
Disable all non-necessary cookies
Go to Cookie preferences for more detailed choices
Preferences
Under Cookie preferences, the visitor can:
Learn more about each category of cookies used on your site
Choose which categories to accept or reject
Adjust their consent in a more detailed way
The categories shown depend on the types of cookies you use.
Policy
In the consent alert and in Cookie preferences, the visitors can access your full cookie policy for detailed information about how cookies are used.
To ensure that a visitor can withdraw or adjust their consent at any time, the link Manage cookies is always available in the footer of the career site and via the Data & privacy page.
Cookie setup
Under Settings → Data & Privacy → Cookies, you can set up how you want to work with cookies on the career site.
Cookie alert appearance
Under the Settings tab, you can choose how to display the cookie consent alert.
A standard cookie bar
This option adds a banner at the bottom of the career site, allowing visitors to continue using the site while the banner is displayed.
A full screen takeover
An overlay appears on the career site and prevents visitors from using it until they make a choice.
Disabled
If you choose not to collect visitors consent, all cookies will be automatically considered accepted by visitors.
Cookie policy
Assign a contact person for your cookie policy that visitors can reach out to if they have questions about how cookies are used on your career site. This person’s contact details, including their email address, will be shown in the cookie policy.
Teamtailor provides a default cookie policy for your career site. If you prefer, you can link to your own custom cookie policy page instead. When added, this will replace the default policy link in the cookie consent alert.
Note! If you’re using a custom cookie policy, it’s your responsibility to ensure it includes all cookies used on your career site. Using a custom policy does not affect which cookies are set, it only allows you to use your own wording in the policy text.
Cookies
As part of providing your career site, Teamtailor sets certain strictly necessary cookies to ensure the site functions properly. We also use Analytics cookies to give you insights through Analytics, which is an important part of the service.
Marketing cookies from third parties may be set if you use certain optional features, such as:
Embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos on your career site or in job ads
You can include these feature-specific cookies in the default cookie policy by enabling the relevant cookie categories, as shown in the image below.
Please note that cookies set through the Facebook/Meta Pixel integration are automatically included in the default cookie policy.
If you use a feature without activating the related cookie category, the system will automatically suggest that you enable it in your cookie policy settings:
Add cookie
You can add additional cookies to your Cookie Policy by clicking + Add cookie in the relevant category.
You’ll then be asked to provide details such as the cookie name, vendor, description, external link, and duration.
If you’re adding custom scripts to your career site that set cookies in visitors browsers, you can make sure you collect consent for them by following the instructions here.
If any third-party tools you use set their own cookies, you’ll need to add them to the appropriate category in your Cookie Policy. Your provider can supply the necessary information about these cookies.
Adding tracking via Google Tag Manager?
To obtain consent for setting cookies through Google Tag Manager, our system supports Google Consent Mode v2. For triggering specific tags and initiating tracking, we have mapped the following consent types with our cookie categories highlighted in bold:
Analytics: 'analytics_storage'
Marketing: 'ad_storage', 'ad_user_data', 'ad_personalization'
Preferences: 'personalization_storage'
To ensure that visitors are informed about the unique cookies you set, please include relevant details in your cookie policy following the above instructions.
