Sympa is the HR system built for growing, global organisations. 1. Getting started
To enable the integration between Sympa and Teamtailor, start by requesting a Teamtailor Connector set-up via the Sympa Marketplace. A Sympa integrations expert will reach out and guide you through the required configurations.
Prior to your integration set-up, you can proceed creating the desired custom fields and questions in your Teamtailor account, and ensuring there is a equivalent field in Sympa to where transfer data.
Once the initial set-up is complete on Sympa side, activate the integration from the Teamtailor Marketplace:
Go to Marketplace Sympa
Click Activate
Enter your Sympa API username and Sympa API password
You can find these credentials in Sympa under:
Settings APIs look for an integration named “Teamtailor”
After entering the credentials, click Finish installation to activate the integration.
2. Integration content
The Sympa-Teamtailor integration supports two main flows:
Create new employees in Sympa based on candidate data in Teamtailor
Create new job postings in Teamtailor based on approved Recruitment Requests in Sympa (Upcoming in Q2/2026)
2.1 Creating new employees in Sympa
A selected candidate is created as a new employee in Sympa when:
The candidate is moved to the Hired stage with a Trigger, or
The integration is triggered manually
Standard fields transferred
Candidate ID
First name
Last name
Email address
Phone number
You may also choose to include additional standard fields such as Location, Job Title, or Department. The employee receives an Employee number automatically when their profile is created in Sympa.
Custom Fields, Questions & Attachments
You can transfer:
Any Custom Fields created under Candidates or Jobs*
Questions & Answers filled by candidates*
Attachments uploaded by the candidate
For each field or question you want to transfer, an equivalent field must exist in Sympa.
* Note: Teamtailor field type Multiple selection is currently not supported by the integration.
Common custom fields transferred:
Manager
Organisational information
Employment and compensation details
Common questions transferred (preboarding data):
Address
Bank details
Social security number
Any additional information required for employment agreement creation
2.2 Creating new requisitions and job postings in Teamtailor
This upcoming feature will allow Sympa users to automatically create a requisition and/or job posting in Teamtailor based on an approved Recruitment Request in Sympa. Planned release: Q2/2026.
3. Sending candidates to Sympa
Candidates can be sent to Sympa either automatically using a trigger, or manually. Your Sympa integration expert can help you set up email notifications sent by the integration when a candidate is succesfully transferred to Sympa.
3.1 Sending candidates using triggers
To add the trigger to a hiring stage:
Open the relevant stage
Select the magic wand icon (top-right)
Choose Add trigger
Select Send candidate to Sympa Connector
Alternatively, you can add this trigger to your Job Templates, so you don’t need to set this trigger for each Job posting manually.
3.2 Sending candidates manually
To manually send a candidate to Sympa:
Ensure the candidate is in the Hired stage before sending
Open the candidate profile
Select More Add integrations Send candidate to Connector (Sympa)
4. Collecting preboarding data
If you want to collect additional information from candidates prior to sending their data to Sympa, you can use Questions in Teamtailor. If the preboarding questions contain sensitive data, you have the option to make a question private.
Combine Questions with automated messages to request preboarding data at specific hiring stages. Any answers collected can be transferred directly to Sympa when configured correctly.
Below is an illustration of example combination of triggers, where a preboarding survey is sent automatically in “Offered” stage, and candidate transferred to Sympa automatically in “Hired” stage:
