Rejection reasons often vary throughout the hiring process. You might reject one candidate's job application in favor of another, more qualified, while another candidate might withdraw due to salary expectations.

Our Reject reasons feature helps you keep candidate communication personal while tracking why applications are being rejected, whether by you or the candidate.

Set it up

Go to Settings → Recruitment → Reject reasons, and you'll see the different options available. By default, we give you a list of common reasons, but you can also customize the list to suit your company's needs. The options will be categorized into two sections:

  • Rejected by us: Reasons when your company made the decision to reject the candidate.

  • Rejected by the candidate: Reasons when the candidate chose to withdraw.

At the end of each section, you will find the option to add a new reject reason.

Rejecting a candidate's application

A job application can be rejected in several ways in Teamtailor. Read all about the different options in this article. All options will allow you to select a reject reason, logging why the job application was not considered.

Data reports

In the Reject reasons report under Recruitment in Analytics, you can find valuable insights and patterns related to why job applications are being rejected.

This data can also be found in the Jobs report available in the job process for the hiring team.
