When a candidate chooses to apply for one of your job ads, they’re directed to the application form. This is your opportunity to gather information while ensuring the experience feels welcoming and easy to navigate for candidates.
A thoughtfully designed application form also supports your hiring team by providing all the relevant details they need, helping them work more efficiently.
The application form is set up when creating/editing a job under the Application step. Let’s take a closer look!
Application questions
You can add or create your application questions in the Questions section when editing a job. This is where you gather the information you need to screen each application. Keep in mind that too many questions can feel overwhelming for candidates, so aim for a clear and relevant set.
Once your questions are in place, you can decide whether each one should be optional or mandatory, along with the additional settings listed below.
Yes / No and Range questions are always mandatory since they don't have a neutral value.
Remember, you can always preview your job ad and application form before publishing by using the preview option in the bottom menu. This helps ensure everything looks and works smoothly.
Set qualifying questions
Hiring teams often spend time reviewing candidates who don’t meet basic requirements, while candidates invest effort in roles they aren’t qualified for. To make the process more efficient and create a better experience for everyone, you can add qualifying questions to your application form.
To set this up, add a Yes / No question, then click the ⋮ three dots and toggle on Candidate must answer Yes to apply.
Please note: This feature works only with Yes / No questions and only for positive answers, meaning the qualifying answer cannot be linked to a “No.” Keep this in mind when crafting your questions.
If a candidate answers "No" to the qualifying question, a message immediately appears on the application form letting them know they don’t meet the job requirements. The remaining questions are then blocked, ensuring candidates only spend time on roles they’re qualified for.
Attach video introduction
In the application form, you’ll have the option to enhance the candidate experience by attaching a video to your questions. This can be used to give a personal introduction or provide additional context to the question.
Once you’ve added a question to the application form, you’ll find the option to attach a video through the ⋮ three dots. You can choose to record a video directly or upload one from your device.
Candidates will see the video embedded directly within the application form next to the question. This sets the tone for the question and helps give them a clear idea of how to answer.
Connect a custom field
In the application form, you collect valuable information that benefits both current and future recruitment processes. By linking questions to candidate custom fields, you can automatically save key details on the candidate card, reducing manual work and keeping your data accurate. This saves time and helps your recruitment team stay focused on what matters most. You can read more about this here.
Use conditional logic
Instead of presenting all questions at once in the application form, you can apply conditional logic to reveal or hide questions based on what the candidate answers.
This way, the form adapts dynamically to their answers, keeping it relevant and efficient. You can read more about this here.
Personal information
After your candidate answers the job’s specific questions, it’s time to fill out their personal information. When setting up the application form, you can decide what personal information to ask from your candidates. You can choose which fields to set as mandatory, optional, or hide from the application form.
Apply with social profiles
You can allow candidates to apply using their social profiles by going to Settings → Recruitment → Apply with. From there, you can choose which options to apply to your company's job postings.
The options will be displayed for the candidate in the personal information section of the application form.
Unbiest recruitment
Unconscious bias can influence hiring decisions, but our Anonymous mode feature helps minimize that risk.
When activated at any stage of the recruitment process, personal candidate information is masked. The system hides identifying details such as names, emails, and profile pictures, promoting fair and objective evaluations.
If activated in the Inbox stage, candidates are informed directly in the application form, ensuring transparency and highlighting your commitment to unbiased recruitment. You can read more about this here.
Additional candidate information
To make your application more engaging, you can activate our Additional candidate information add-on feature. This allows candidates to personalize their application by sharing more about themselves, creating a more enjoyable experience for them and your hiring team. You can read more about this here.
Design
The application page inherits the design settings from the rest of your career site, ensuring a unified look for your visitors.
Color settings
The colors used on this page can be set up in the Design settings in your Career site editor. When setting them up, you will find a preview displaying how the colors will be used.
Secondary background: Used as the background color
Content: Used for the main text color
For the application form, it will use the combination displayed in the second example.
The input fields, where candidates provide their answers, are always displayed in white.
If you use white as your Secondary background the application page will automatically get a darker color, so your inputs are still displayed clearly.
Thank you page
When your candidate has submitted their application, they land on your career site’s Thanks for applying page.
This means the application has ended up in the job’s recruitment process. Your candidate will now also have the option to Connect with your company, as well as add Recommendations linked to their candidate profile.
Confetti
Celebrate submitted applications with a confetti rain on the page. You can enable/disable this by heading over to your career site’s Design settings under the Miscellaneous section.
